Dining Room/Living Room Floor and more

A new floor was installed in a pattern of contrasting hard woods. The center field was a rectangle of red oak. A decorative band of maple (a very light wood) surrounds a single band of dark walnut which has a loop at each corner. The outer field is picture framed red oak, and the finish is oil based polyurethane.

The flanking china cabinets are red oak, and stained a deep red, reminiscent of mahogany. Outlets had to be moved to install the cabinets, which have integral lights.

The client wanted to continue the floor’s theme into the living room. The threshold a band of walnut with a maple on either side. The floor is red oak with four medallions of maple and walnut.
