See the before and after!
The original kitchen was approximately six feet deep, with an eight foot deep eat in area (show in top photo). The plan was to combine the two small areas into one fifteen foot wide by eight-teen foot deep kitchen.
In the top photo, the two windows on the left were removed and filled in. The window on the right was removed and a six foot wide sliding door was put in it’s place as shown in the second and third photo. The walls were studded to accept insulation, and five new electrical circuits were run to the new room.
A new tile floor was laid on the diagonal. The grout lines are narrow and the color is reminiscent of aged leather. The original appliances, faucet and sink were reused. The cabinets are maple, with a laminate top.
The sliding door opens up the sight lines through a screen porch to the back yard, and makes the kitchen brighter. Not shown, the entry way into the kitchen was widened from thirty two inches to forty two inches, to enhance traffic flow and the sight line.
